About the Owner
George Wollas was destined to work with nature. He grew up with a mother and father who had the most beautiful garden in the neighborhood and their yard was pristine. When not at school, he spent his free time sharing their passion. After graduating from high school and serving in the Marines, he returned to his hometown where he continued his education at the Henry Ford Trade College. Upon completing his studies, he worked his way up the ladder at the E & L Railroad and secured the position of Chief Clerk to the vice-president of the corporation.
However, he found the "white collar" job unfulfilling. He left the postion and returned to his first love, working with nature. After years of studying and on the job training, he moved to Franklin, Tennessee and began working on his dream, 20th Century Nursery. Thirty two years later he proudly proclaims 20th Century Nursery as the most beautiful nursery in the area, with a full line of specimen plants available for his clientele. His design work is noted throughout middle Tennessee; and his professional nursery staff and installation crews share his love of nature, work ethic, and honor the company's mission statement.... SATISFACTION IS OUR AIM. Over the years, George has continued to add services and products to ensure complete landscaping for his customers. .... Hard Work? Yes.... Happy with his decision thirty eight years early? Absolutely!
